THALASSA HOLDINGS provided Marine & Commercial Diving Services to one of the most active Emergency Response Companies in Worldwide Marine Casualties. This included Marine Salvage, Towage & Wreck Removal Operations, always protecting the Marine Environment from Pollution, as well as Property & Life at Sea.
It was a difficult Marine Salvage Operation in open sea with a very strong current. A 47m yacht suffered several hull damages and water ingress after grounding in a shallow reef. Salvage Tugs were mobilized, having onboard the required Salvage Personnel & Equipment for emergency response.
The yacht was successfully refloated and removed from the reef after being lifted by a floating crane barge, as well as after underwater patching and dewatering. The Sailing Yacht was then towed to a shipyard for further repairs.
The on-site works & repairs included:
- The survey of the bottom areas of concern (grounded spots).
- The patching of the openings by wedges, wet welding & epoxy putty.
- The crack arrest by drilling & oxy-arc cutting.
All works were performed under the satisfaction of the Client, Underwriter’s Representative, & Class Surveyor.
