A 63,000t DWT Bulk Carrier suffered a crack in the tail shaft and lost her propeller due to rough seas while crossing the Atlantic Ocean.
A Salvage Tug was mobilized from Spain, carrying the required salvage personnel and equipment.
On-site repairs included:
Installation of a steel box with rubber flange
Plugging the stern tube to prevent water ingress into the Engine Room (E/R)
These measures allowed the vessel to safely sail to her destination for cargo unloading.
